CHILDHOOD PHOTOGRAPHY
Natural & Unposed Portraits
REAL MOMENtS, REAL PHOTOGRAPHS
I started Childhood Photography to give families a meaningful documentation of their children’s early years. Capturing the fleeting moments and milestones to provide an honest and intimate record of family life.
It’s not easy being a parent in the digital age - life is busier than ever and even the most important moments end up lost in an endless scroll of thumbnail images.
Childhood Photography reminds families of the beauty and significance of real moments with real photographs.
A natural approach
Documentary Photography is a way of seeing and understanding, capturing everyday life as it exists. My approach is friendly, sensitive and unobtrusive.
I love photographing children because they are completely uninhibited, always in the moment exploring everything they come across.
I’m interested in what they are doing and so they want to show me and my camera. I like to get down on the ground or climb up a tree to see things the way they do.
"Lauren's photography really captures the essence of childhood"

3 SIMPLE STEPs
Everything you need to know
1. PLANNING THE SESSION
The first step is to meet up for a chat, either in real life or virtually, so we can talk about your family, your children, and what you like to do together.
We can explore ideas and make a plan for the shoot.
The pre-session consultation is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions about the process and the session.
2. THE DAY OF THE SHOOT
Sessions are fun and informal, allowing the whole family to relax and enjoy the day.
Parents can be present, immersed in the moment, enabling children to be natural and spontaneous in the presence of a camera.
3. REceIVING YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS
After the session, you will receive a professionally edited digital album of high-resolution images in colour and black and white.
As an additional service, you can also choose for your favourite photographs to be printed and framed so they can be hung in your home and treasured for years to come.

A little bit about me
THE WORLD THROUGH THE EYES OF A CHILD
I grew up in the countryside in Wales, I was quite shy but I loved adventure and being outdoors.
When I was little, my mum had a camera and I even learned to walk holding her light meter in my hand. The photos she took of my childhood are precious reminders of who I am where I come from.
I’m autistic and process things in a different way to others. Understanding visually and emotionally means I experience things on a deep level.
I’m excited by the world around me and have a vivid imagination.
My environment constantly inspires me, often getting distracted from a conversation because I see something amazing happening and accidentally interrupt by shouting: “Wow, look at those leaves blowing along the ground; they look like hundreds of mice!” Sometimes I get strange looks, but I don’t mind because I’m just too happy to see the world do something remarkable.
I am lucky enough to be a mum too, to my wild and wonderful son, Phoenix.
We love looking through pictures of his life together and seeing how much he’s grown and changed, re-living so many beautiful memories that would otherwise have been forgotten.
The idea for childhood photography emerged as I began to realise how important these photos are to me and my family, that I want to offer the same to other families and their children.
“Lauren’s pictures showed us the importance of appreciating the everyday moments ”
- EMILY NEWTON, BRIGHTON
