They don’t stay little for long

I capture the moments that are easy to miss

The moments you almost didn't photograph

I photograph everyday life as it actually is. Not posed, not tidy, not saved for special occasions. And when there is a special occasion, I photograph the real version of that too.

Pictures you'll want to print, frame and keep forever.

“Lauren came into our crazy home and just kind of slowed everything down. And then showed it back to us in her beautiful photos."

– Hattie’s mummy, Hastings

I see the world the way they do

I'm interested in what children are doing and so they want to show me and my camera.

The best pictures are already happening. I just need to be close enough, low enough, patient enough. I get on the floor, climb a tree and look at the things they're looking at.

"Lauren photographed things he did that we never would have stopped to notice.”

– Dylan’s mum and dad, Hastings

How it works

3 SIMPLE STEPS

Step 1 — Tell me about your children

Fill in a short form. Their ages, their personalities and what they're into. It means I arrive knowing who I'm photographing.

Step 2 — I come to you

One hour at your home or somewhere your children love. I follow their lead and photograph what happens.

Step 3 — Your photographs

Ten carefully edited images in colour and black & white, ready to download and print.

A bit about Me

Hi, I'm Lauren!

When I was little, my mum had a camera and I even learned to walk holding her light meter in my hand. The photos she took of my childhood are precious reminders of who I am and where I come from.

I'm autistic and process things in a different way to others. I'm excited by the world around me and I have a vivid imagination.

I'm also a mum to my wild and wonderful son Phoenix. I have been photographing him since the moment he was born. We love looking through pictures of his life together, seeing how much he's grown and changed, re-living memories that would otherwise have been forgotten.

That's what made me realise how important these photographs are. I decided to start Childhood Photography because I want to offer the same to other families in Hastings and St Leonards and give them a real record of what life looked like when their children were little.
